Pete Turner
PHOTOSNACK #711
Pete Turner’s work is an incredible study in how color can be both subject and emotion — his photographs don’t just show the world, they re-imagine it with bold, graphic intensity. If you’re drawn to images that feel both precise and dreamlike, minimal yet powerful, his archive is a masterclass in how far a photographer’s vision can go beyond what was simply there.
Thank you, Alan Paine, for recommending his work.
Until next time,
Tomasz

Yes, those glossy album covers he did for CTI jazz records were stunning. I didn’t just tear off the cellophane wrapper, take out the record and place it on the turntable - I took a moment to take in the beautiful photograph, which was part of the experience.
While we’re on the subject, the album covers for EMI records have been been and continue to be graced by compelling photographic images.
What an amazing combination of vision, color sense, and creativity. I first became aware of pete turner in the sixties and seventies with his album covers. I think his work is made even more remarkable when you realize that it was all shot on film, and realized long before this age of digital manipulation was invented. Thanks for including this and bringing him to our attention!
