A wonderful series of photos. I often return to this book. Beyond Caring and Troubled Land are also key British documentary photobooks. Thanks for sharing.
Indeed it is. I remember seeing the Shimmer of Possibility at The Whitechapel Gallery without knowing anything about him and being struck by its originality.
Yes, I saw the Whitechapel Gallery exhibition as well! I liked it very much because it had a small survey of his work, and it had so many iconic images only knew from his books. Not to sound snobbish, but I remember not liking the prints of Shimmer - they look poorly printed. Some years later, if I remember correctly, at the Photographer's Gallery I saw Shimmer again and they must have reprinted them because they looked stunning.

His books are still on my "shopping list". Would be great to have them on my shelf.
They are highly recommended!
Thanks for today's post! Paul Graham is an absolute favourite of mine. A Shimmer of Possibility is a monumental body of work.

I missed the exhibition at the Photographers Gallery. I only fully discovered him when the A1 book was republished.
