I grew up and currently live a bit west of St. Louis, have hiked and canoed extensively in Missouri, and have also lived (and photographed extensively) in New Mexico. As you say John has some great images from the midwest. But also some from the southwest including the one you feature. That one (and the mesas with deep blue skies) could, but may not be from New Mexico, but are definitely not the midwest.
