Huge fan, but I also chuckled a little bit to have this one be the follow up to the one you took down for compositing and manipulation. I only recently learned this myself, but Fan Ho massively manipulated his works in the dark room, even that super famous shot with the long diagonal hard shadow apparently didn't actually have that shadow in the original negative. I don't see a problem here, but thought it was a funny 1-2.
Hey Wesley, it falls into a different category for me, though. Manipulating your own images in the darkroom feels much different than using digitally generated images from locations you had not even visited.
One of the interesting things about Fan Ho, or even Cartier-Bresson, is that if they were young photographers today, I don’t think their photos would get much attention. I don’t think there is much appreciation for his “classical” style of photography anymore.
Huge fan of Fan Ho as well! Actually, have three signed books of his on the shelf. Love his eye and his ability to use the darkroom for image adjustment was solid.
