Described by many as Henri Cartier-Bresson of the East, Fan Ho belongs to the tight group of my absolute personal favorites.
Stunning black-and-white photography, masterful use of light and geometry, and exceptional feel for translating mundane situations into outstanding photographs.
Fan Ho was a Chinese photographer. He lived 1931-2016.
Thank you, Steve Loader, for reminding us of his work.
Until next time,
Tomasz
Huge fan, but I also chuckled a little bit to have this one be the follow up to the one you took down for compositing and manipulation. I only recently learned this myself, but Fan Ho massively manipulated his works in the dark room, even that super famous shot with the long diagonal hard shadow apparently didn't actually have that shadow in the original negative. The story can be read here: https://aboutphotography.blog/blog/story-of-approaching-shadow-by-fan-ho
I don't see a problem here, but thought it was a funny 1-2.
One of my favorites as well. 🙏
