Fascinating work by Kenyan photographer Thandiwe Muriu.
She creates images that “showcase Africa’s unique mix of vibrant textiles, cultural practices, and beauty ideologies.”
Thank you, Arjen Nijhof, for making me aware of her work.
Until next time,
Tomasz
a combination of graphic art, photography and textile development? Hard to say if it's photography.
There are those who use the camera to record a scene without taking advantage of the medium of photography. No use of light, space and time. Like a stenographer making a written record. Since all the artistry and authorship is in the scene being recorded, and not in the use of the medium of photography, are they really photographers? Seems like this is a textile artist, not a photographer.
