This is one of those photographers from the history books, but William Eggleston’s work still feels strangely fresh: ordinary streets, cars, diners, ceilings, signs, and domestic corners are transformed through radical colour, off-centre framing, and a sharp instinct for visual tension.
His photographs look casual at first, almost like snapshots, but the saturated dye-transfer colour, precise geometry and attention to everyday things make the banal feel electric, mysterious and unforgettable.
