I concur with your assessment. Yes the viewer should have the last word... Yet, I struggle with difference between photography and photo-art. Meaning the difference between a single photographic shot and an image that has been, thru digital means, stitched together to look like a great photograph. Or can an image be enhanced too much- so as to look excessively manipulated?

A good photograph is begun by a technically savvy photographer with a eye to see beyond the surface of the world he/she is photographing. Ultimately the viewer has the last word on whether it is a good photograph or not. I've had photos win blue ribbons and lots of prase from fellow artists (photographers), get paned by the intended audience???
