Every Sunday, I reach out to photographers previously featured on PHOTOSNACK and ask them to send me their spontaneous thoughts, observations, reflections, or advice.
Today, I am sharing with you the message I got from Roberto Pazzi.
Roberto Pazzi
As a self-taught travel photographer, I want to share a motivational message for beginners who long to make travel and photography their lifestyle.
I had to change my life completely years ago to chase my dream and live through travel and photography.
After a degree in engineering and 15 years of work in ICT companies, I sacrificed that life of economic security, a managerial job, and a well-recognized social role to restart with a new one.
I learned a lot from that experience. I will now try to briefly summarize my learning as a motivation for everyone to follow the same path.
First, it's neither the technology nor the gear that gets the job done.
Fortunately, the photographer still makes a difference here, even though technology could greatly help when properly used.
Therefore, don’t waste your money looking for the newest technology, but practice a lot instead.
An important step is to understand what you like more and create your long-term project. Travel photography is a vast field to explore.
Break down your big project into smaller, feasible ones.
Next, you should identify your style to sign your work and communicate your message uniquely.
Studying, practicing, and "training your eye" by looking at the works of other inspirational photographers will help to work it out.
The Internet may provide you with everything you need.
Don't be afraid to explore outside your "comfort zone" and keep yourself free from the judgment of others and from your fears.
Don't get distracted by financial proposals for projects you are not interested in or advertising collaborations that bring you far from your final goal.
Remain focused on your long-term project, and let your passion be the fuel running your engine.
Focus on your passions, the simple little details, and the everyday things that make you feel good. In the end, those are also the most important ones.
Passion, curiosity, perseverance, and sacrifice are the keys, or at least they were and still are for me.
This is my experience in short. I hope it inspires those who intend to make this magnificent world of travel photography their lifestyle.

Sunday Editions connect you with photographers whose work you previously explored through PHOTOSNACK.
I want to reveal some authentic parts of the people behind the cameras.
I don’t ask them any specific questions. I ask them to share whatever comes to mind when they think about YOU, the readers of the newsletter.
It makes their responses genuine and personal.
I hope you enjoyed today's Sunday Edition.
Until next time,
Tomasz
Long winded "advice" becomes insufferable. It's not virtue signaling but
ego signaling.
Grazie Roberto Pazzi, you showed us the raw reality of what life can be like.
