Stephanie Johnson
PHOTOSNACK #718
I enjoy how Stephanie Johnson uses intentional camera movement to turn ordinary landscapes into soft, flowing impressions of mood. Her photographs feel less like recordings of a place and more like quiet memories of being there.
You can join Stephanie at the upcoming online abstract symposium Seeing Differently: Three Voices Exploring Abstraction (details below).
Until next time,
Tomasz
A big thank you to Santa Fe Workshops for supporting PHOTOSNACK.
Check out their upcoming online abstract symposium.
Stephanie Johnson, photographer and founder of ICM Photography Magazine, moderates Santa Fe Workshops’ online abstract symposium, Seeing Differently: Three Voices Exploring Abstraction, joined by three internationally acclaimed, contemporary ICM (intentional camera movement) photographers Andy Gray, Barbara Kreutter, and Nick Fancher. The live event focuses on the unique approaches that push the boundaries of photographic expression, moving beyond documentation to create images that interpret, evoke, and reimagine the world.

The word "photography" derives from "painting with light". There all kinds of ways to paint with light and infinite interpretations of subject matter. Either you like it or you don't, but let's not waste time quibbling about whether it's "photography". And BTW, I think these particular abstractions from documentary reality have artistic merit.
Thanks so much for the feature and promotion of the upcoming Santa Fe Workshops abstract photography webinar! All very much appreciated.
