Raghu Rai passed away on April 26, 2026, leaving behind one of the most important photographic bodies of work in modern Indian history.
His images do not simply document India — they seem to hold its energy, contradictions, grief, beauty, chaos, and tenderness all at once. Looking at his work now is to meet a photographer who understood that the camera can witness the world with both force and deep humanity.
May his extraordinary body of work continue to remind us how deeply a photograph can see, remember, and honor human life.

Really beautiful words; I had never heard of Raghu, and yet hearing that this clearly amazing photographer had died just a few days ago moved me quite deeply, the realisation that there are great and meaningful voices all around us and once those shining lights are gone, yes they can leave beauty behind, but the fact that they will never speak again fills me with sadness and makes me think of my own mortality, what I might leave behind. Thanks :)
