Ogawa’s intentional use of shadow and blur creates a liminal dreamlike space, like a Rorschach inkblot, that both reveals and conceals. Our minds naturally feel compelled to “finish” the images by injecting something of ourselves into them. It’s a much richer experience than simply “reacting” to a clear complete image.
