Nanna Heitmann has the ability to photograph very remote worlds without turning remoteness itself into the subject. Rivers, forests, fires, isolated communities and extraordinary landscapes become backgrounds for much more human stories about survival, belief and our dependence on nature.
There is real journalistic substance in these photographs, but also a visual intelligence that makes me want to spend time with every frame.
