What I like about Max Pinckers’ work is that he doesn’t try to hide how much a photograph is constructed. The flash, artificial light, and occasional staging are clearly there, and they keep making me question what is real and what is not.
His photographs don’t simply show reality — they also make me aware of the act of photographing it.
