Every Sunday, I contact photographers previously featured on PHOTOSNACK and ask them to send me their spontaneous thoughts, observations, reflections, or advice.
Today, I am sharing the message I received from Laurence Bouchard.

This photo (“Boundaries”) was taken at Chofu Airport in Tokyo after a failed attempt at Haneda. The original idea was to shoot a plane through a sheet of perspex glass - either with water sprayed on it or using natural rain - to create a moody, textured effect. At Haneda, I couldn’t find a spot close enough to the runway, which led me to try Chofu instead. For this kind of shot, a cloudy or rainy day is ideal to minimize reflections.
At Chofu, the first thing I did was check the day’s flight schedule. Then I began scouting for a spot directly beneath the flight path. After a bit of trial and error, I ended up climbing a small hill to pinpoint the best setup location. I used clips to attach the Perspex to a fence, and from there, it was just a matter of waiting for the first flight to pass overhead.
I’ve returned once since, but didn’t have much luck - the spot had become overgrown with overgrowth.

Sunday Editions connect you with photographers whose work you previously explored through PHOTOSNACK.
I want to reveal some authentic parts of the people behind the cameras. I don't ask them any specific questions. I ask them to share whatever comes to mind when they think about YOU, the newsletter readers. It makes their responses genuine and personal.
Until next time,
Tomasz
