Jim McHugh seems equally interested in people and place. His portraits—often of artists and performers—feel relaxed and wonderfully unforced, while his photographs of Los Angeles turn the city into something atmospheric, graphic, and slightly elusive.
I like that range: carefully made photographs that never feel overly polished or controlled.
Thank you, Patrick House, for recommending his work.
Until next time,
Tomasz

Portraits are nice, but LA is somewhat gloomy - I have had the occasion to visit it, and my impression is different.
