Irving Penn has always fascinated me with how he could turn something as simple as a cigarette butt or a corner of fabric into pure poetry — his eye for elegance in the ordinary feels almost magical. If you care about photography that’s timeless, thoughtful, and impossibly refined, you really should spend some time with his work.
Until next time,
Tomasz

Penn had a show at MoMA in the early 80's and I walked out (I am old now) and became a dedicated photographer. I loved everything he did and especially his bleached and toned prints of cigarettes...to this day not even sure what it was about them. He was a master. And his fashion images still take my breath away.
Mr Penn was a true master in practice. There were no shortcuts when he created a photograph.
