Today, sadly, I am returning to it for a different reason.
The great Italian photographer died at the age of 92, last Saturday, August 29.
He was one of photography’s true masters of colour — someone who could look at an ordinary landscape, a wall, a road or a shadow and reduce it to colour, shape, rhythm and emotion. At a time when serious photography was still largely associated with black and white, he showed just how powerful and sophisticated the language of colour could be.
If you already know his photographs, today is a good day to look at them again.
