These photos make me cringe. I don't fully understand why the author made this - it seems for some poor reasons.

Exactly. So that we can see poor people as they live, and in many cases, thrive.

There are no 'poor people' in his photos; there are people who go bad. So bad that they demonstrate his genitals.

First picture I saw was a back-alley street scene with people who looked like they lived on the street. I volunteer at a soup kitchen, food puts a smile on their face, it relieves the desperation.

I recommend viewing all photos, not just the first one. I'm not a volunteer, but I give money to every almsman who asks me and, yes, I see a smile on his face.
