Brian Ulrich
PHOTOSNACK #889
There is a sharp, almost archaeological eye at work in Brian Ulrich’s photographs of consumer culture: big-box stores, thrift shops, dead malls, fluorescent aisles and retail displays become strange stages where abundance starts to look fragile and absurd.
His colour is often clean but slightly uneasy, and his compositions use repetition, signage, artificial light and human gesture to reveal the quiet theatre — and quiet sadness — inside everyday American shopping spaces.
Thank you, Ken, for recommending his work.
Until next time,
Tomasz
