Bharat Sikka has a wonderful ability to make contemporary India feel both specific and psychologically elusive.
His restrained color, generous use of space, and occasionally almost-awkward compositions keep photographs from becoming overly resolved. I particularly enjoy that quality: you enter expecting documentation and discover something closer to a half-remembered dream.
